Profile: Shasta Dusick

Shasta is a teacher in the English classrooms at the NEO Kids Children’s Treatment Centre (CTC). Shasta is qualified to teach primary to intermediate divisions and is also a Special Education Specialist.

She has been teaching for 14 years and has spent 4 of those years with us, at CTC! Shasta believes as a teacher you are always learning new ways to help your students reach their goals. She always knew she wanted to help children. Shasta loves the challenge of coming up with creative ways to help others further their understanding.

“All of the kids that I work with have a piece of my heart, every day I learn something new from them. They always put a smile on my face and make me laugh. The pure joy on their faces when they are able to do something that they previously weren’t able to do is magical. Many of our students travel with their families to other communities to have their medical needs met. Unfortunately, this means time away from work, school and their family support system which is extremely difficult for them. To have the ability to stay within their community and be supported during those extra stressful times would be amazing.”
